Attractive package for automation component suppliers
February 17th 2006

IMS Research predicts the total production value of packaging machinery within EMEA will exceed €15.6bn by 2009 – experiencing compound annual growth of almost 5%.

Its latest report found that filling and dosing machinery accounts for 20% of packaging machinery production revenues. The company says this machine type offers the largest opportunity for automation component suppliers targeting the packaging machinery market.

“Packaging machinery is a particularly attractive market for automation component suppliers as the automation content of a machine typically accounts for about 15-20% of the total machine cost,” says senior analyst, Tim Dawson.

“Not only is the packaging machinery market itself experiencing growth, but the amount of automation equipment being used by machine builders is also increasing as companies integrate more robotics, servo motors and control equipment to increase machine flexibility and productivity,” he says. “This should make the market very appealing to component suppliers.”
