Jet drying for food processors February 17th 2006 Suppliers of premium prepared vegetables to UK supermarkets are now able to improve production processes with a drying system from Meech Air Technology.
Carrots sold with the leaves still in place - to retain flavour - are top-of-the-range items, and, as such, must arrive on the supermarket shelves not only clean but in first class condition. This provides suppliers with a processing issue – washing the carrots naturally wets the leaves, which, if they remain wet during distribution, could become limp and slimy. The conventional approach to this problem is to shake the bunches of carrots by hand before packing; this is time-consuming, expensive and prone to human error.
The solution to the processing dilemma is the energy-efficient, fan-driven Meech JetStream System, which can be installed over vegetable processing lines. The stream of air dries the vegetables, for example carrots and their leaves, extremely effectively and without damage, leaving them in pristine condition for their onward journey to the high street.
When it comes to supplying prepared carrots in both baton and shredded forms, Meech has the answer once again. These products need to be not only washed, but also completely dried, as water remaining in the sealed-top packs is unacceptable to both supermarkets and consumers. Again, a Meech JetStream installed immediately before vertical form fill and seal packing stations solves the problem. More articles from Meech International Ltd: |
