Energy price rises make efficiency paramount Serious compressed air energy savings July 27th 2006 ENERGY awareness is becoming a major requirement from many more companies who are looking at ways to reduce ENERGY costs and make their premises more ENERGY efficient. 10-12% of all industrial power generated in the UK is dedicated to the production of Compressed Air.
Typically up to 20% of a factory energy consumption is attributed to the operation of compressed air. The cost of power to run an air compressor will be much greater than both the purchase cost and ongoing maintenance costs together.

ABAC UK can offer several alternatives to evaluate and analyse Energy Costs:
From the simple Energy Calculator Online to a full analysis of the compressor plant using the Energy Audit Equipment available from many ABAC distributors throughout the UK.
Once the analysis has been made a number of solutions can be offered using existing compressors and/or additional variable speed model(s) together with a Plant Control System savings that can repay itself, sometimes, in incredibly short periods can be achieved.
Variable Speed Compressors have two main advantages:
i) To vary the supply of air according to demand.
ii) To reduce the pressure band and increase energy savings.
This means that very high savings can be achieved especially in those situations where compressors are running off load. (Try ABAC's Energy Calculator Online to give you an estimate of potential savings)
Plant Control Systems can connect electronically up to 10 compressors with a master and slave solution, thus “intelligently” run each machine according to demand and/or cycle of operation. Most importantly if a compressor fails, the Plant Control system will immediately start an alternative machine and inform the operator (Telemonitoring option).
