 Low VOC one-stage system Mykal Prepwipes meet new VOC limits
October 19th 2006 From January 1st 2007 all products used within the Automotive Refinishing Market must be labelled with the details of their VOC Content.
Traditional solvents such as thinners, IPA and IPA blends used for Preparatory and Pre-Cleaning operations will be clearly labelled as being above the legal limit for VOC emissions and as such all companies will be under pressure to change to alternative products.
Low VOC Prepwipes and Prep Cleaner liquid from Mykal are designed for the fast wipe down and pre-cleaning of metal and plastic surfaces prior to Painting, Bonding and Final Assembly processes without health risks to operators.
The EU VOC limit value for ‘Preparatory and Cleaning: Pre-cleaners’ in ready to use form (product category 11B(a)) is a maximum of 200g/l of VOC. The actual VOC content of Prepwipes and Prep Cleaner in ready to use form is just 96g/l.
The Prepwipes are pre-impregnated and Non-Hazardous, using a water-based cleaner that combines Cleaning, Drying and Anti-Static properties with a pre-cut No Linting fabric in a resealable sachet.
With this low VOC, one-stage system in place, operators can prepare surfaces for painting or coating stages quickly and efficiently in high volume manufacturing environments without the need for flammable solvents, separate paper drying or anti-static processes.
Mykal also produces its own Automotive Wipes for the removal of sealants, sealant overspray, heavier contaminants and for the preparation of components for further coating operations.
The EU VOC limit value for Mykal Automotive Wipes in ready to use form (product category 11B(a)) is a maximum of 850g/l of VOC. The actual VOC content of Automotive Wipes in ready to use form is just 683g/l.
