A silicone sealant and a psa What do you get if you cross silicone with a psa? October 20th 2006 Global silicone-based technology company, Dow Corning, this month announced the launch of its new 100 per cent silicone reactive hot melt sealant. The comany says it combines the instant strength of a pressure sensitive adhesive (psa) with the high performance of a crosslinked silicone sealant – promising reduced production costs and increased efficiency by allowing parts to be moved from one processing step to the next without delays
As HM-2510 is a silicone sealant and a psa, it offers aggressive, long-lasting adhesion to PVC, aluminium, painted and treated wood, high performance paints, plastics and various other substrates. It has an open time of 15 minutes and pot life of up to 24 hours.
HM-2510 is a non-hazardous, low odour formulation which is worker friendly, adheres to most common substrates and can be used with standard hot melt dispensing equipment. The sealant is optimised for use with automated dispensing equipment, which creates a uniform seal for part-to-part consistency, minimises waste and cleanup and can, Dow Corning claims, reduce labour costs substantially.
