 The environment is now more 'suitable'... Staff no longer hot under the collar
September 19th 2006 Evaporative cooler supplier, EcoCooling, has 'tailored' a cooling solution for Cheshire Bespoke – which produces the famous Lutwyche bespoke suits from its Crewe production plant. The problem was most acute in the main production area where the suits are tailored; this is situated on a mezzanine floor where temperatures were reaching up to 35°C.
The company needed a cost effective and efficient solution to cool his workers on the mezzanine level and also the bottom area where the steam irons were situated. The solution was a single roof mounted EcoCooler discharging cooled fresh air through horizontally mounted ductwork and a series of grilles positioned above the work stations.
The ductwork was positioned so that the air provided cooling for the mezzanine floor and at the same time discharged cooled air to the lower floor where the steam irons are located.
The air temperature on the mezzanine floor has now been reduced to an acceptable level of below 25°C. A pleasant working environment has now been created leading to increased efficiency and improved moral. This has been achieved using just one EcoCooler at an installed cost of under £5K. The unit provides up to 35kw of equivalent cooling load from a 13amp electrical supply and a simple water connection, with running costs expected to be in the region of 10p per hour.
