Powerbloc likes opportunity charge
June 28th 2007

The new generation of Hawker Enersys Powerbloc XFC Dry batteries, designed for cleaning machines and small industrial electric vehicles, like to be fast-charged. They are particularly suitable for opportunity charging.

Powerbloc produces up to 30% more power density than similar batteries and 80% depth of discharge can be recharged with its matching high frequency (HF) fast-charger in less four hours.

Unlike traditional battery technology Powerbloc dry batteries prefer charge to be topped up as and when convenient. They are practically maintenance free and environmentally friendly with minimum gassing which makes then ideal for use in shops, public areas and sensitive manufacturing locations.

When a vehicle is not in use its Powerbloc battery can be plugged into the HF charger for re-charge making it ready for the next duty cycle. As a result, the focus is on energy throughput rather than maximising battery capacity.

The Powerbloc XFC gas recombination battery range comprises a cell system constructed from special alloy thin grid plates. The electrolyte is absorbed in a microporous separator. This highly advanced ‘pure lead’ technology allows very fast charging and deep discharge. The specially engineered plates are ideally suited to electrical vehicle applications with multi-shift operations.
