Baldor introduces washdown range
November 22nd 2007

Baldor now has washdown versions of its adapter-mounted ball bearing range, Dodge Grip Tight. Now offered in polymer and stainless steel housings, in addition to cast iron, the maintenance friendly features of these bearings can be applied to reduce equipment lifecycle costs in washdown zones.

Dodge Grip Tight offers much lower cost of ownership than a conventional ball bearing system because it features a patented 'easy-off' adapter system, and housings that accept as many as seven sizes of concentric, 360-degree shaft rings.

The adapter press-fits onto the shaft, and automatically loosens for maintenance or replacement by simply turning a nut — which pulls the bearing off and pushes the adapter in the opposite direction. This innovation avoids any need for forcible removal or expansion heating — eliminating fretting corrosion and preventing shaft damage.

Significant inventory reduction will also be possible for many because one bearing and housing design accepts a range of adapter sizes.

Washdown Grip Tights are available in polymer or stainless steel housings, and with corrosion resistant ball bearings for sizes up to 50mm / 2inches. These complement general-purpose Grip Tights, with rugged cast iron housings for shaft diameters of 17 to 90mm, or 1/2 to 3-7/16inches. Housing styles include pillow block, tapped base, two-, three-, and four-bolt flange, piloted flange, and take-up.
