Double celebration at The Energy Event
August 29th 2008 Visit Elcomponent on Stand 118 at The Energy Event for a double celebration, because as well as showcasing a new multi-platform network controller for sub-metering applications, the company launches its new SPC Pro data logger, and releases the news that its much praised SPC Mini has been adopted by CIBSE as a key element in its “100 hours of Carbon Cleanup” campaign.

The new SPC Pro - the SPC Minis big brother - is a 3 phase Energy Datalogger, which has been designed to build on the success of Elcomponent’s market leading SP MAX. The company says that the new instrument is a significant improvement over the competition in all areas, and also sets a new price benchmark at just £995.00 but will be available at a special launch price for the duration of the show. The unit is supplied complete with a matched set of internally powered flex-type CTs, which combined with a new auto-ranging feature provides exceptional accuracy from less than 2 amps all the way to 2000.
Although it is anticipated that the instrument will normally be mains connected (to provide a measurement voltage as well as a power supply) Elcomponent says that the SPC Pro has an integral rechargeable battery which boasts an impressive life of several weeks, so the unit can also be used as a battery powered logger if necessary. However, the unit’s greatest advantage is its simplicity – Bill Gysin explains, “The combination of auto-ranging and automatic phase sensing means there is literally no set-up to do beyond deciding on storage rate, and because the memory is so large, it’s rare even to change that! Accuracy, reliability and low cost are all key elements of any new design, but ease of use is paramount. The SPC Pro is a real step forward on all these fronts. ”
The logger is designed for easy non-invasive measurement of 3 phase loads and ships with an upgraded version of the company’s highly acclaimed PowerPackPro software.
Elcomponent is also showcasing new developments in its “MeterRing MM” aM&T package to further enhance its status as a genuine end-to-end aM&T provider. Its new Meter Network Controller combines a fully integrated meter reading capability with flexible data transfer options via TCP/IP/Broadband and GSM, offering a one box solution for both local and wide area metering systems.
