Apprenticeship from start to finish
February 26th 2008

Thorite is a firm believer in the value of its well established apprenticeship programme.

The latest person to join the four year long training scheme is Jonathan Moulson, 17, who will receive hands-on experience and attend study periods during his time as an apprentice service engineer. Jonathan is taking his first tentative steps towards gaining the skills which will provide him with a valuable and in-demand career.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Kinsella, 22, has just graduated from the apprenticeship scheme, having completed an advanced modern apprenticeship in engineering. He has also gained an NVQ Level 3 certificate in engineering maintenance (mechanical), plus an advanced diploma in Engineering and Technology.

He is now a fully fledged Thorite service engineer, able to put his knowledge of best practice when working on compressed air installations, including maintenance, control, storage, distribution and health & safety issues into effective operation.Jonathan Kinsella’s diligence and enthusiasm impressed both his tutors and Thorite’s management so much that he gained the Apprentice of the Year award in 2005.

Speaking of Thorite’s apprenticeship scheme, Ross Gowler, the company’s marketing and engineering services director said: "As compressed air technology becomes more advanced the need for well trained engineers to service and maintain the equipment becomes more vital, whilst today’s concentration on producing power for industry in the most efficient and environmentally friendly way adds different skill requirements. I find it extremely gratifying to be part of an organisation which puts so much emphasis on high quality training and would like to wish both Jonathan Moulson and Jonathan Kinsella the greatest success in their future careers."
