Is your boiler operator suitably trained? June 27th 2008 It will come as a great surprise to many that the vast majority of steam boiler operators do not have any formal qualifications. Incorrectly operated, boilers could explode causing devastation and possible loss of life. Thankfully this is rare, and the many automatic controls on the boilers should give warning well in advance of any major failure. However there is no substitute for having operators who fully understand the plant of which they are in charge. In addition, a well trained operator can keep fuel costs and emissions in check.
Byworth Boilers run boiler operating training courses both at their training facility at the factory in West Yorkshire, or on a customers’ site for classes of 5 or over. You can choose from a 2 day course assessed by the Byworth trainer, or the full Cert IBO qualification assessed by Gastec. The courses entail a mix of 'hands on' operation and classroom theory, and cover all aspects of boiler safety and efficiency.
