£100m set to be spent by international buyers at MACH
April 15th 2008

Two hundred and fifty specially invited international delegates will be visiting MACH 2008 with the intention of setting up links with UK companies and ultimately spending a predicted budget in excess of £100m.

The visitors are part of a delegation invited to the show by the MTA, with the assistance of the UKTI Advanced Engineering, Automotive and Aerospace Sector Teams. The UKTI departments have jointly given their approval to supply funding for inward overseas missions to MACH. The delegates consist of commercial buyers and senior engineers from: Brazil, Russia, India, China and SE Asia will descend on the halls of MACH keen to invest in machinery and technology from the UK market, which is fast developing as the leader in precision engineering equipment.

MTA business development manager John Collins works with external organisations to assist and encourage international trade between MTA members and international buyers, “We regularly link up members with buyers from across the globe, in particular in China and Russia where the Association runs two satellite offices created specifically to assist members with exports to these countries. In addition we run regular trade missions both inward and outward to enable members to network with global buyers keen to invest in the latest manufacturing technologies that our member companies have to offer. Over the years we’ve helped to generate a substantial amount of international business and MACH 2008 will be no exception.”

The delegation will arrive on Sunday 20 April, visiting the show from Monday through to Thursday with a view to doing business with exhibiting companies. Guests include customers of MTA members exhibiting at the show and the delegation is also partly created on recommendations from other UK associations and the UKTI Commercial Officers at Consulates abroad. UKTI is funding a substantial proportion of the UK costs.

With exports performing well exhibiting UK companies can expect numerous deals to be made at MACH by the overseas visitors.
