Robocoaster set to thrill MACH visitors April 15th 2008 KUKA Automation + Robotics is set to provide visitors to MACH 2008 with a memorable encounter thanks to the Robocoaster, the world’s first passenger-carrying robot.
The Robocoaster, which creates a unique and thrilling, white-knuckle ride unlike any other traditional rollercoaster experience, will be making a rare UK appearance on KUKA’s stand 4895 in Hall 4.
Set to be one of the star attractions of the show, the Robocoaster carries two passengers at a time and offers an exhilarating sensation with a choice of five ride profiles and speeds, which, KUKA believes, can pull up to 2Gs on some ride selections.
To date, 100 Robocoasters have been sold to theme parks and family entertainment centres around the world. It was invented by Warwickshire engineer and former KUKA employee Gino de Gol in 2001.
“It’s a powerful ride which many people compare to a rollercoaster squeezed into a box. The versatile robot arm is able to provide full turn, tilt and twist motions in any combination,” explained Paul Richards, KUKA’s general sales manager.
KUKA Automation + Robotics, part of KUKA AG, will also be teaming up with partner Wilkinson Star to launch its new KR5 arc welding robot at the show.
KUKA, based in Halesowen, West Midlands, offers full turnkey automation solutions as well as a comprehensive range of industrial robots with payload capacities from 3Kg-1000Kg.
