What to look out for at Maintec February 29th 2008 Condition monitoring products will be well represented with several industry leaders exhibiting new, improved technology. Holroyd Instruments’ MHC-Classic Plus portable condition-monitoring instrument – which incorporates a Super Slo operating mode for on-the-spot information on machinery rotating as slowly as 0.25 rpm – is expected to attract plenty of interest, while sensor specialists Ifm Electronic introduces two new monitors.
Efector Metris from Ifm is calibrated for CO2, nitrogen and argon, and the new Efector Octavis bearing condition monitor is now available as a master unit that can monitor up to four separate locations, and can be specified with ATEX equipment category 3D/3G. The Watchdog Elite System – a hazard monitor that assesses belt and pulley alignment, bearing temperature, belt speed and blockage detection for bucket elevators and conveyors – will feature prominently from 4B Braime Elevator Components.
Competition in the thermal imaging camera market is hotting up, and that’ll be illustrated at Maintec as numerous suppliers focus on the event. One contender is Metrum Information Storage’s hand-held Thermo Tracer TH9260 that uses a high-resolution un-cooled micro bolometer detector for the kind of accurate temperature measurement and repeatability associated with expensive cooled detectors. Longwave length performance give advantages to outdoor work, where it is immune to solar reflection, and scientific applications where low temperature differentials can be achieved. Temperature measuring ranges between -40 to 500˚C are standard with a 100˚C to 2000˚C range option for high temperature applications.
According to Flir Systems, the specification of its new ThermaCAM T-Series puts this camera in a class of its own in terms of flexibility and functionality. And another new thermal imaging camera featuring Fusion Technology will be among the highlights on the Fluke (UK) stand.
Elsewhere, VEGA Controls will showcase the VEGAPULS 67, an entry level device for bulk solids level measurement. It incorporates a new antenna system, which makes it possible to offer a considerably lower price, yet retain the heritage of tried-and-tested pulse radar technology using high sensitivity combined with ECHOFOX signal evaluation optimised for bulk solids.
With bacteria such as MRSA, E-Coli and C Diff rarely out of the headlines, Flowcrete’s germ-busting floors are sure to attract plenty of interest. The company’s Flowfast resin system, which uses the natural power of silver to sanitise floors, has become a global phenomenon across the flooring industry and specified for major industrial projects. Surfaces are generally ready for use just two hours after installation so there’s minimal disruption to businesses’ day-to-day operations.
Other exhibitors include Petro-Canada Lubricants, who will highlight a new food grade lubricant, Purity FG with MICROL, which won an International Stevie Award. CRC UK will unveil additions to its Ambersil Tufcut range, including the new Tufcut Foam, which uses the original Tufcut liquid delivered in a specially formulated aerosol allowing the liquid to foam gently on contact with the work piece or drill bit, providing a longer contact time on the work area.
