Online calculator for energy and emissions
March 10th 2008 Dow Corning today launched the interactive Molykote Energy Savings Calculator, an easy-to-use, online tool that can help plant managers and industrial maintenance engineers manage rising energy prices and carbon dioxide emissions by realising the significant energy and cost savings available through lubrication best practices.
Improper lubrication creates drag and friction, wasting money and damaging equipment. Correct lubrication strategies improve reliability, can help avoid costly repairs and save energy to reduce harmful CO2 emissions.

When users can enter the number of motors, gearboxes, pumps, compressors and fans, the kilowatts needed to run them, their efficiency, the hours per day and days per year into the calculator, they are shown potential reductions in kilowatt hours, CO2 emissions and the associated cost savings.
