Agility breaks into China April 14th 2008 Agility, a market-leading easy-to-use CMMS application from SoftSols, is a primary partner of PWE ’08. The company celebrates its 25th anniversary with full Microsoft Gold Partner status, major new customers, a full order book – and has just broken into the Chinese marketplace.
The Chinese economy is booming, and more and more Western companies are setting up manufacturing operations there. One major player is Bookham Technology, a world leader in optical communications. The company’s advanced manufacturing plant in Shenzen employs some 2000 people – and computerised maintenance of the entire 250,000 square foot facility depends on Agility.
SoftSols had been planning a strategic entry into China for some time. The company had invested in its overseas infrastructure, and had taken on staff to translate Agility’s user interface into Mandarin.
"Bookham has been a satisfied customer for over 15 years," explained SoftSols managing director, David Hipkin. "We’re delighted that they are one of our first Agility users on the Chinese mainland."
The Chinese maintenance engineers warmed to the system immediately. Up to 35 concurrent users can access and deliver up-to-the minute information about all of Bookham’s Chinese assets, work orders and planned schedules. It enables the team to make the right maintenance decisions at the right time.
Agility’s ongoing success is because, unlike many CMMS systems, it is easy to use, affordable, and has the power and capability to manage a complete maintenance portfolio. The simple browser-based interface means users can access and communicate essential data, even from remote sites. Engineers have better information at their fingertips, so are more capable of making on-the-spot decisions and remaining compliant with in-company and legal directives. Users save money and the overall maintenance workload is lightened.
SoftSols Group is celebrating 25 years of consistent growth and innovation; and the recent award of prestigious Microsoft Gold partner status has further boosted its market-leading position.
