Oil Giant Shell makes easyFairs Maintec debut
January 30th 2009

Improving energy-efficiency through effective lubrication management will be Shell’s focus when the oil giant makes a first ever appearance at easyFairs Maintec in March. Shell UK Oil Products – which shares its easyFairs Maintec stand with fluid management partner Boccard – plans to highlight how delegates can save energy, reduce costs and prolong equipment life by using advanced formulation lubricants as part of a fluid management system.

And it will also use the event – 17 to 19 March at Birmingham’s NEC – to introduce Shell Tellus EE, an energy-saving lubricant designed to retain an optimal density to help transmit rather than absorb power. According to Shell, early calculations suggest it can help companies reduce the energy consumption of hydraulic machinery by up to eight per cent.

easyFairs Maintec marks its 34th year in 2009 and, as this year’s exhibition evolved to embrace suppliers of both lubricants and energy-efficient products, Shell’s Richard Lonsdale believes it was an obvious opportunity for the company to make its show debut.

"It's a show with a great history, very loyal supporters and a well-informed audience," added Richard. "We've come on board at a challenging and interesting time...I'm sure this year's show will be very successful as maintenance professionals seek the latest technologies to keep their plant and machinery operating optimally whilst looking for ways to minimize both energy use and running costs."

And Alex Brain, Business Development Manager at Boccard UK, added: “Whatever area of engineering you’re involved in, lubricants and their effective management plays a central role in helping to achieve maximum efficiency. Getting it right can make a real difference to your bottom line. Get it wrong and you’re not only wasting energy and money but also potentially shortening the life of your equipment.”
