ATEX compliant industrial vacuum cleaners March 31st 2009 BVC have unveiled their range of industrial vacuum cleaners including machines that are amongst the world’s first electrically powered units to comply with the ATEX 100a Directive 94/9/EC for use in Gas and Dust designated areas. The ATEX regulations have been mandatory since July of 2003 throughout the EU and require all potential sources of ignition to be taken into account for electrical and mechanical equipment used in classified areas.
As the world’s oldest manufacturer of vacuum cleaners, BVC maintains a tradition of innovation and technical expertise and thus embarked on an extensive programme to develop a range of units that meet the needs of their many customers with 'zoned' areas in such industries as chemical, food, pharmaceuticals and engineering manufacture.
The complete range of ATEX approved machines consists of a range of models for dry or wet and dry collection and includes:
• Electrically powered units from 0.75kW up to 15kW that run on 400v
• 3 phase or 230v single phase electrical supplies.
• Compressed air powered units
• Type H version for hazardous/toxic dust collection.
In addition to the machines BVC has also received ATEX approval for a range of tools, hoses and accessories to enable a comprehensive solution to be offered to all customers requiring ATEX vacuum products. Machines are made in the UK and supplied in accordance with the Quality Assurance Standard BS EN ISO 9000: 2000. As ATEX approved products these machines have been tested and certified by independent third party organizations who where appropriate carry ‘notified body’ status.
