Schaefer satisfies growing on-line business at Falcon Park
May 29th 2009

SSI Schaefer has designed and installed a completely new warehouse and stores facility at Falcon Park to accommodate its growing number of online customer based business partners.

The Falcon Park site manages mail order and internet fulfilment operations for a variety of web based businesses that come under the banner of The Friday Ad, a classified advertising website buying and selling all manner of products including computer equipment, motor vehicles, boats, gardening equipment and animals, based in Sayers Common, West Sussex.

Wanting to provide its expanding mail order and internet-based partner companies with an on-going and efficient storage, warehouse and distribution centre, Falcon Park called upon the expert services of SSI Schaefer to design and fit out its recently extended facility in order to effectively manage the expanding businesses on behalf of The Friday Ad.

Impressed with SSI Schaefer’s track record in planning, designing and installation within the storage, materials handling and distribution arena, Helen Reed, operations manager at Falcon Park was confident of Schaefer’s ability to deliver a new stores centre that not only offered a flexible solution for configuration but allowed for future expansion if required.

Due to the diverse nature of products to be stored, including surfing equipment, equestrian equipment and marine chandlery, SSI Schaefer installed a range of shelving and racking designed to accommodate the variety of stock. The new warehouse is fitted out with PR600 pallet racking, R4000 modular shelving and R3000 cantilever racking – all designed to take an additional level in the future, should the business expand further.

The Regal 4000 modular shelving system provides Falcon Park with a quick economic solution to storage problems which can be extended at any time from a single to a multi-tier system, enabling optimum utilisation of available space. The PR600 pallet racking system provides strong heavy-duty shelving for multi-location storage and quick handling on a daily basis while Schaefer’s cantilever racking stores long awkward materials and large bulky items with ease and no tools are required to adjust the cantilever arms.

Helen Reed said: “We were impressed with Schaefer’s ability to provide a number of shelving and racking configurations without knowing the exact stock profile to be stored whilst at the same time deliver a complete storage system that can easily be expanded to accommodate future expansion with ease.”
