Bearings that cut TCO November 28th 2009 Bearing failures can result in major maintenance and plant downtime costs. Baldor has two families that can greatly lower total cost of ownership (TCO) by innovative adapter-mounting mechanisms and sealing.
Dodge Grip Tight mounted ball bearings feature a patented 'easy-off' adapter system, and housing designs that accept as many as seven different sizes of concentric, 360-degree shaft rings. The bearing adapter press-fits onto the shaft, and automatically loosens for maintenance or replacement by simply turning a nut — which pulls the bearing off and pushes the adapter in the opposite direction. This innovation avoids any need for forcible removal or expansion heating — eliminating fretting corrosion and preventing shaft damage. Reliability is aided by a Proguard Plus Seal with flingers.
Dodge's ISN family provides mounted double-row spherical roller bearings compatible with standard SN dimensions, and feature a similar adapter mounting system with built-in puller that slashes installation and removal times. Users can choose from Trident seals for dirty environments and low-to-medium speeds, or labyrinth seals with corrosion-resistant flingers for higher speeds and harsher ambient conditions.
Listen to these users:
“… we’ve tried lots of bearings, but they have all been dismal failures …. they only lasted about 3 months. and when they failed they also destroyed the shaft. The Dodge bearings have been running for 18 months without fail. They have been totally buried in soda ash and still run.”
"Grip Tight has given us back predictability of maintenance, with the welcome bonus of much longer life, protecting some of our company's most crucial assets. Our operational team now has the time to be more proactive, focusing its major efforts on preventive maintenance rather than breakdowns." More articles from Baldor UK Limited: |
