New management development programme November 26th 2010 To further help manufacturers gain the skills they need to compete globally, the Manufacturing Management Development Programme has been developed by The Manufacturing Institute from its Professional Diploma in Manufacturing.
Quality assured by the University of Manchester, the new programme comprises of three Personal Effectiveness modules – ‘Leadership and Managing Change’, ‘Developing Others’ and ‘Developing Yourself’ from the Professional Diploma in Manufacturing.
Neil Smith, head of Education and Training at the Manufacturing Institute explains: “The Prime Minister’s recent trip to China and the potential for an increase in trade with the world’s fastest-expanding economy is just one example of where British Manufacturers need to up their game to ensure they can compete globally.
“For manufacturing to survive, it’s not just about manufacturing product. Manufacturers need a range of ‘backroom’ tools at their disposal to ensure they can efficiently and successfully deliver their product to a highly-competitive and quite volatile market.
“The Institute’s new Manufacturing Management Development Programme is aimed at anyone with several years manufacturing experience, but who may not necessarily have any existing formal qualifications and who want to simply ‘up their game’ as efficiently and expertly as possible.”
The three self-contained modules in the programme require 4 study days each, approximately 25 hours home study and a 2,000-2,500 word assignment for each module. The modules make extensive use of practical example and real-life case studies with help available at all times from experienced and qualified mentors.
Subjects covered in the programme include managing change, creativity, innovation and problem solving, motivation, team working, communication and leadership amongst others.
The programme commences on 2nd February 2011. Scholarship grants for 50% of the programme fee are available for SMEs and deserving candidates from large manufacturing organisations.
