Reduce boiler NOx
May 12th 2011

It is only in recent years that efficiency has become a priority in the manufacture of industrial boilers. While fuel costs were relatively low and emissions were not really on the agenda, purchase price was all important to the boiler buyer.

Today, however, priorities have changed completely with great emphasis now being placed on efficiency and reliability. As a leading manufacturer, all Byworth Boilers three pass wet back boiler shells and furnaces are generously sized in order to reduce NOx emissions and provide long service life.

Byworth also has exclusive rights to the use in the UK of the X-ID tubes. These unique tubes increase the heat transfer from the tubes to water space by up to 80%. X-ID tubing is suitable for waste heat, gas or oil fired boilers, including those run on heavy fuel oil.

Fluegas economisers can also improve boiler efficiency by up to 5%. The heat in flue gasses, which would otherwise be lost up the stack, is utilised in an air to water heat exchanger to pre-heat the feed water to the boiler.

As well as their extensive range of conventional boilers Byworth has also developed a choice of air pre-heat boilers, which incorporate a flue gas to air heat exchanger to pre-heat the combustion air, waste heat boilers and combination boilers which have a waste heat section in the same shell as a conventional three pass boiler.
