Mql system July 1st 2007 Bielomatik has introduced a
minimal quantity lubrication (MQL)
system that, it says, brings
economical, safety and
environmental benefits to
lubrication at the 'cutting tip' in
many machining operations.
The company says that trials
have shown the system to cut a
total cycle time by 30%, giving
greater productivity.
MQL technology allows semi-dry
(or near dry) machining operations
to be carried out with only a
minimal amount of lubrication (it
can be as low as 10mL/h) to
prevent tool damage. The system
uses waterless lubricants and is
said to give a finish which is the
same, or better, than wet machining.
The two-channel MQL system
has been engineered for highspeed,
high productivity schedules.
Spindle speeds of up to 40 000rpm
can be achieved as centrifugal
forces through the spindle do not
affect the delivery of the oil.
Allowing the use of higher viscosity
oils, the system is said to give
better lubrication for longer tool life,
reducing machine maintenance.
Other advantages claimed
include: precise control and
adjustment of oil flow; no overdosing
during tool changes; oil
mist does not get into the
environment; and immediate
surroundings stay clean, as does
the workpiece. More articles from Bielomatik: |
