cables, together with other prominent industrial partners and has just launched
the "Vector Awards" competition. This competition is being run to find and
highlight unusual or challenging applications in the field of energy supply,
whether energy chain, inductive or wireless systems
The winners of this Europe-wide
competition will be rewarded with
cash prizes of up to €5000, to be
presented at the Hannover Industrial Fair
in April 2008. The final date for entries is

New applications every day
Modern plastic energy chains are the
umbilical cord of the automation, machine
tool and plant industries.
Energy chains ensure the safe supply of
power, data and other media in highly
dynamic situations. Such systems are
used in such diverse applications as:
cranes, machine tools, theatre and film
studios, medical equipment, robots and
clean rooms.
Jury member Harald Nehring, Energy
Chain Systems Manager at igus GmbH
explains, "We come across new
applications almost every day. This
competition is supposed to show the
limits that have already been broken with
energy chains made from reinforced
plastic."
In addition to conventional energy chain
applications, users of novel contactless
energy transmission via induction and
wireless systems can also use this
competition as a platform for their
applications.
