Smaller bending radii September 1st 2011 Following a series of inhouse
tests over a period of
two years, energy chain and
cable specialist, igus UK, now
certifies that its Chainflex
CF11 and CF211 series can
operate reliably and safely in
smaller bending radii.
The permissible bending
radius for the CF11 TPE
measuring system cable has
been reduced by 32% from
10x diameter to 6.8xd, and
that of the CF211PVC
variant by 25% from 10xd to
7.5xd. The tests, which paid
special attention to the cable
shield, core pitch lengths and
the individual strand size of
the core wires, confirmed
that cables survived more than
30 million double strokes, or
36,691km travel, in the energy
chain with a test radius of 5xd.
The Chainflex CF11 data
cable has an abrasion-proof
and bend-resistant, halogenfree,
oil and bio-oil-resistant
TPE outer jacket and an inner
jacket also made of a TPE
compound. It is said to have
extremely stable braiding. More articles from igus (UK) Limited: |
