Blowing away May 1st 2008 The Corus Trostre Works,
Llanelli has installed a new
blower-powered Airknife
moisture removal system
on its five-stand mill.
Formerly, compressed air
delivered through 66
nozzles was used to
remove surface moisture
from steel strip as it exited
the mill. This used over
345kW with annual running
costs of approximately
£75,000. In comparison, the
Airknife system, supplied by
Air Control Industries
(ACI), uses 60kW yet
achieves more efficient
moisture removal.
The blower-powered
Airknives deliver the
required air output
constantly. The air is heated
by the blowers as a result of
air compression, making it
an effective drying agent.
The air is also filtered at the
inlets of both the enclosure
and blower ensuring no
contamination.
ACI's Airknife moisture
removal system comprises
a pair of stainless steel
chevron-shaped airknives
covering a width of
1240mm fed by 15kW EP10
blowers, which are housed
in pairs. More articles from Air Control Industries Ltd: |
