Fusion-bonding
January 1st 2006

Alfa Laval has introduced a new version of its AlfaNova fusionbonded heat exchanger. The AlfaNova 14 is intended for duties such as process cooling, hydraulic oil cooling, laser cooling, hygienic/sanitary duties, water/water cooling and heating.

Made entirely of stainless steel, the fusion-bonded unit can withstand pressures to 20bar and temperatures from - 50 to 175°C, attributes that make it suitable for refrigeration duties such as evaporator, condenser, economizer, desuperheater and oil coolers among others.

A high temperature version of the unit, capable of operating to 550°C has also been introduced.

Units have a large heat transfer surface relative to size.

The corrugated plate design has been created to optimise heat transfer, with low hold-up volumes and uniform distribution of the media through the channels.

The exchanger can be cleaned chemically using an alfa CIP system.
