Healthy salads September 1st 2005 A dehumidifier from Calorex Heat Pumps is helping to ensure salad seeds in a purpose-built Evesham cold room remain in peak condition.
The Calorex DH150AX keeps relative humidity in the 10 by 18m cold room down to 40%, preventing the seeds from germinating prematurely. The unit was installed by ACRS of Evesham for Enza Zaden UK as the company was finding it difficult to keep humidity in its cold room below 50%.
Clive Page of ACRS says "The DH150AX is ideal for this kind of low temperature environment and offers a very cost effective way of maintaining consistently low humidity levels."
It is easy to set and provides humidity and dew point control in a wide range of situations. Typically, it is capable of removing 150L of water in a 24h period at 20°C and 75%RH. It is also designed to extract moisture using the lowest possible energy input while recovering more latent heat and sensible energy than it consumes. |
