Three in one tester July 1st 2004 Suitable for both electric motor repair shop and production line, the new Motatest from Whitelegg Machines combines three tests that previously would have been carried out by individual instruments.
The 12v, battery-powered Motatest will surge test windings to identify inductance problems, measure their resistance to confirm balance and flash test the windings to identify earth faults. This allows an engineer to make the decision to overhaul or to rewind.
When on the production line, the testers ability to compare against preset values and tolerances makes it suitable for pass/fail verification by non-skilled staff.
The standard L model can carry out automatically a surge test, resistance test, open circuit test and short circuit test. Results are compared against pre-installed limits and a pass or fail decision given on the condition of the winding. Results can then be downloaded via RS232 port to a computer for storage.
