Platform to show the latest PACs January 1st 2009 National Instruments will be showing
recent innovations in programmable
automation controllers (PACs), PCbased
industrial data acquisition and
distributed I/O.
The NI PAC platform combines the
ruggedness of a PLC with the softwaredefined
flexibility of a PC through a
combination of an embedded CPU
running a deterministic real-time OS, a
custom defined onboard FPGA and a
tool, LabVIEW, over the whole system
development. This Reconfigurable
I/O architecture is available across a
range of off-the-shelf platforms.
Platforms include: PXI, an open,
PC-based PAC version for test,
measurement and control;
CompactRIO, a low-cost, deployable
platform for automation, machine
control and industrial monitoring
applications; and the newest member
of the RIO platform, Single Board
RIO. Also on the stand will be the
recently launched NI 9144 8-Slot
Deterministic Ethernet Chassis.
