DC motor
May 1st 2007 A high performance DC motor for
use in demanding
environments has been
developed by Astrosyn
International
Technology.
The APW166
compound motor with
shunt and series
windings was designed
for powering the hydraulics used
for lowering a heavy door on a
tracked vehicle. It replaces a
permanent magnet motor that
suffered overheating.
The new IP68-rated motor is
optimised to provide a higher
starting torque. It meets
demanding levels of
ruggedness in terms of
shock and EMC
standards and has
thermal sensors as well
as a speed sensor with
specialist electronics that
is connected to a
