Drive change
November 1st 2003

Pot Noodle manufacturer Unilever Best Foods has upgraded three production lines at its South Wales plant with Unidrive variable speed drives from Control Techniques. Mark Edwards, project manager, explains Line three had been running Control Techniques Vector drives for 10 years. These had performed well, but we wanted to bring the line under plc control and so chose Unidrive with UD73 plug-in modules to give Profibus connectivity. The result has been excellent, with the line exceeding daily targets. The most crucial factor has been the synchronism of the drives from the process and through to the packaging section.
