Geared for monitoring September 1st 2009 By monitoring wear characteristics and other aspects of a gear unit, such as envelope, acceleration and velocity frequencies, engineers from Siemens Mechanical Drives are able to identify when gears and geared motors require servicing, maintenance work or replacement.
Siemens GearControl, offered in the UK through Flender Service, provides graphic readouts covering envelope acceleration and velocity spectra to give accurate fault diagnosis at an early stage. A visual perspective can also be gained of the inside of the gear unit via a borescope. Comprehensive reports are then provided to customers.
The system is suitable for larger types of gears and geared motors, and is not just confined to Flender geared products. More articles from Siemens Industry Automation & Drive Technologies (Flender): |
