Modular induction motors
September 1st 2006

Available from ABB, the AMI series induction motors ranging from 500 to 11 000kW are of modular construction, enabling them to be tailored to specific applications.

Motors are constructed using a series of modular building blocks to provide a complete range of enclosures and cooling arrangements. This enables each AMI series motor to be delivered at a cost typical of off-the-shelf units.

Available options include air-towater and air-to-air cooling, as well as a weather-protected version.

Protection classes range from IP24W to IP56.

The AMI is said to squeeze an extra 10% of power from each frame when compared to its predecessors, enabling users to opt for smaller, lighter motors.

Standard models keep noise levels below 82dB(A); some options reduce noise even further. Low vibration was also a design priority.
