Motors off to India September 1st 2008 Efficiency and value-formoney
were the reasons
Weir Minerals chose WEG
EFF1 B3 induction motors
for 20 pumps commissioned
for a Paul Wurth blast
furnace at the Vizag Steel
Works in Andhara Pradesh,
India.
Operational from 2009,
the 3800m3 furnace will be
one of the biggest, most
efficient and up-to-date in
India. The 415V, 3 phase AC
motors range from 15 to
315kW and are being used
on Weir Pumps in slag
slurry, slag granulation,
cooling circuit water and
recirculation duties via vee
belt drive trains.
The six high volume,
heavy duty slurry pump
sets are driven via a VVF
drive to match the duty
cycles, while the slag
granulation water,
recirculation and cooling
water pump motors employ
direct on-line starting.
Russell Mccabe, field

motors have an excellent
track record in the metal

have good support services
in India and are in the
process of building our own
production facilities." More articles from WEG Electric Motors (UK) Ltd: |
