Stainless AC motors for washdown and corrosive environments May 1st 2007 Baldor has added IEC-frame models
to its range of all-stainless-steel
washdown-duty AC motors. Offering
high energy efficiency, combined
with special construction features
that assure users of extended life
and reliability, the new SSE motors
are ideal for applications involving
exposure to caustic chemicals.
Designed for maximum corrosion
resistance, Baldor's stainless steel
motors are particularly suitable for
food and dairy product processing,
and pharmaceutical and brewing
industries, which frequently employ
caustic solutions and high-pressure
jets for cleaning. The motors are
equally suitable for use in chemical
processing and manufacturing
plants, as well as for outdoor
applications — especially in hostile
environments involving corrosive
agents such as salt spray.
Baldor's stainless steel SSE
motors operate from standard 50
Hz three-phase supplies and are
available initially in IEC D80, 90,
100 and 112 frame sizes, spanning
a power range from 0.37 to 4kW —
with higher power versions
following. Motors with ratings up to
0.75kW employ TENV (totally
enclosed, non-ventilated) housings,
while higher output models use
TEFC (totally enclosed, fan-cooled)
enclosures. Users can choose from
different mounting options to suit
the application.
Premium electrical materials have
been used throughout the SSE
motor range, to ensure very high
operating efficiencies. As a result,
all motors exceed 'EFF1' levels with
efficiencies as high as 89.9 % for the
higher power ratings — providing
users with significant energy savings
in applications involving extended or
continuous motor operation. More articles from Baldor UK Limited: |
