Recovers beer and profits March 1st 2008 Alfa Laval's cross-flow
membrane filtration beer
recovery system recovers
beer and surplus yeast from
the fermentation and
maturation stages of the
brewing process.
The system recovers up
to 2% of total beer
production as high quality,
oxygen-free beer while also
concentrating recovered
yeast up to 20% dry matter.
The continuous process
is based on a self-contained
skid housing a number of
modules of plate and frame
microfiltration membranes.
Each module can provide
between 30 and 168m2 of
filtration surface area
depending on the number
of plates. The system can
be sized to the
application by adding
or removing plates.
PVDF is used for
the membranes. Its
pore size of 0.45µm
provides good
retention of yeast and
other microorganisms.
The
system requires
minimal energy input and
runs for up to 20h
continuously with no need
for batch recirculation More articles from Alfa Laval Limited: |
