Cuts waste
May 1st 2006

To measure accurately the flow of hot ultra-pure water used in the production of Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), Asahi Glass Fluoropolymers UK has installed five Krohne UFM 3030 flow meters.

Installed at its manufacturing plant in Lancashire, the flow meters provide data to a newly installed Distributed Control System (DCS).

The ultra-pure water is produced in the plant and accurate control of the amount of water used during manufacture is critical for production quality. As PTFE is a high value material, waste and rework can increase manufacturing costs. The flow meters ensure that the correct amount of water is charged and that there has been no under or over charging.
