Easy-to-use intrinsically safe flow rate totaliser
November 1st 2007

An intrinsically safe flow rate totaliser has been introduced by Trimec.

The RT12 is designed primarily for flow metering applications, but is also suitable for speed indication applications.

In addition to a general industrial rate totaliser, the RT12 is now available as an intrinsically safe model and will withstand the most hazardous environments. The IS version is certified in accordance with both the ATEX directive to EN50-014/en50-020 and the IECex scheme to IEC 60079-0/IEC 60079- 11. It is also certified IP66/67 weatherproof in accordance with EN-60529:1991 (Degrees of protection 'IP').

The RT12 can be mounted on a meter, wall or pipe and is simple to set-up and use. It features three easy-to-view data displays on a large LCD. Data input is via push button selection and provides 5- digit instantaneous flow rate and an 8-digit re-settable total, along with an 8-digit accumulative total.

The device is suitable for use with all types of digital output flowmeters. In the intrinsically safe format, appropriate galvanic isolators or barriers are required if a power sensor is being used.
