Large gearbox
November 1st 2008 KEE Process has specified six of
the largest Flender gearboxes it
has ever ordered from Siemens
Automation & Drives for a project
in Wales. Crynant is being supplied
with six KEE Process rotating
biological contactors, modular
treatment plants for medium and
large-scale applications, as part of
a 3.3m investment by Dwr Cymru
Welsh Water. Units have Flender
FZG gear units (size H3DH11),
combined with Motox units (size
KAF108K4-1LA9) and highefficiency
Siemens eff1 motors
(size 113-4KA). The drive design
was selected to achieve high ratios
for low speed operation (around
1rpm output speed, with 4kW power
and 63 500Nm gearbox rating).
