Wrench standards
September 1st 2007

Crane Electronics' 25 and 75Nm ProWrench Opta torque and angle wrenches now have homologation from a global car manufacturer, meaning that they satisfy the manufacturer's internal performance standards.

The homologation standards for torque performance are based on DIN ISO 6789 which relates to assembly tools for screws and nuts.

It sets out requirements and test methods for design conformance testing, quality conformance test and calibration procedures.

For torque and angle measurement, homologation is based on three VDI/VDE standards: 2646 covers minimum requirements in calibrations for torque measuring devices, 2647 provides guidelines for dynamic checking of tools according to ISO 5393, and 2648 covers transducers or measuring systems for measurement of angle, instructions for traceable calibration, indirect measure angle measuring systems.
