30-bit encoder
March 1st 2007

A new encoder from Sick (UK), when coupled to special evaluation electronics, can offer 30-bit resolution. It is expected to be of interest to those working with and designing systems and machinery that demand high levels of accuracy and repeatability.

With a resolution to 262 144 by 4096, the encoder is available in single- and multi-turn variants as fully sealed IP65-rated versions or modular designs to enable users to incorporate them into their own housings. Features include a low part count, operating temperature range to 125°C, and high level of shock and vibration resistance.

In operation, the encoders are fully absolute, with all multi-turn variants using a gearing system to form positional values
