Enhances communication
November 1st 2008

KMT Robotic Solutions has added new features to its robotic threedimensional waterjet cleaning and surface treatment systems. All now include the CleaningWare program developed for easy programming and operation of the systems and a new Tool Centre Point (TCP) control. The company has also launched a Cleaning Programming Tool option.

The easy-to-use CleaningWare software follows the ABB program standard and offers fast editing of operating programs with a number of software options such as 2D shape path generation. It enhances human-to-machine communication and lets the operator adjust water pressure to minimise wear on the high-pressure tubes and hoses.

The TCP control combines a TCP adapter placed on the cleaning tool and the CtrltTool control program to check if the position of the TCP is correct. It is easy to check if the cleaning tool is damaged or if the TCP values are incorrect. If the control pins do not match, corrective action must be taken before production/ programming can start. This ensures that the system does not clean with a damaged cleaning tool or incorrect TCP values which will mean the robot will deviate from the programmed path.

The Cleaning Programming tool is attached to the robot cleaning nozzle for optical verification of the cleaning area during on-line programming. The tool comprises a holder for the cleaning nozzle head and an 8 laser pointer with a range of <2000 mm (~100 mm), which allows the user to visualise the area to be cleaned.
