Detects methane September 1st 2010 Crowcon Detection Instruments'
second generation, ATEX-approved
LaserMethane mini Gen2 (LMm)
portable methane detector detects
methane at distances to 20m in
seconds.
By pointing the laser beam towards
a suspected leak or survey line, such
as a gas pipe or ceiling, methane
concentration is measured by
detecting the difference between light
emitted and light received.
The device uses a laser diode tuned
to the characteristics of methane,
and the level is displayed on the
ppm.m readout. On start-up the
instrument performs a self check and
verifies operation and calibration of
the laser diode by referencing an
inbuilt methane cell. This ensures
accuracy and reliability.
ATEX approval allows the LMm to
be used in Zone 1 hazardous areas
for on-plant use, in M2 mining
applications, and to detect escapes in
hard-to-reach or inaccessible areas. More articles from Crowcon Detection Instruments Ltd: |
