Pulsar Process Measurement has launched an intrinsically safe version of the IMP non-contacting ultrasonic level measurement device. The I.S. IMP is a compact, self-contained, two-wire unit with versions offering 3, 6 and 10m maximum measurement range for solids or liquids.

The minimum range (deadband) of the 3m IMP is 150mm and, like the rest of the range, the new version uses the company's digital echo processing to make sure it performs even in difficult applications, such as dusty or turbulent environments or where there are intrusions into the path of the ultrasonic pulse.

Various tank shapes are preprogrammed into IMP to make it easy to monitor materials, and a remote display can be driven from the 4-20mA output.
