Automated system boosts bulb change safety
January 1st 2007 New versions of the Luxlift, from Panasonic Electric Works UK, will be on show at this year's Maintec exhibition. Luxlift is a fully automated system for lowering and raising industrial and commercial lighting fixtures, including fluorescent fittings, chandeliers, smoke detectors or sound system speakers that weigh up to 100kg or as little as 5kg. The maximum height of an installed unit can be 25m from floor level (depending on type). With just a flick of a switch, or using wireless remote control, once luxlift is installed, even an unskilled operator can lower the fixture in just a few seconds from high or inaccessible spaces to a convenient, safe level for lamp replacement. As well as removing the need for ladders or scaffolding, the system ensures that all power is isolated from the lamp and from other parts of the fixture so that the lamp change can be carried out in total electrical and physical safety.
