Jackets for turbines March 1st 2006 When Peter Brotherhood decided to update and improve the thermal insulation of its steam turbines, the Hodgson & Hodgson Group came up with the solution.
Designed to withstand constant high temperatures, the soft jacket system provided is flexible, removable and reuseable. It includes two layers of 25mm E-glass Needlemat and has a glass cloth outer covering that is silicone coated.
The inner facing is of stainless steel knitmesh.
Jackets are sewn together with stainless steel thread and fixings are attached to suit. These vary according to the application.
Manufacturing lead time for turbines has been reduced and, because the jackets are easily removed and reattached, there are benefits for ongoing maintenance. More articles from Hodgson & Hodgson: |
