Manages maintenance September 1st 2006 The Polestar print group has chosen Shire Systems' FrontLine Suite of maintenance management software to protect its huge investment in machinery and to help ensure that it meets deadlines.
The system has been introduced initially into Polestar's Sheffield plant, where the bindery line alone requires 200 essential maintenance tasks per week.
Anna Baker, engineering administrator, explains "We use FrontLine Maintenance, Work Requester, Extra- Users and Helpdesk modules and this allows us to manage weekly cleaning by operators, as well as fortnightly, weekly and monthly maintenance tasks for the engineering department. This is essential for managing the allocation of maintenance slots as well as allowing engineers to log down-time and faults." Baker says the biggest advantage of FrontLine is the level of reporting which allows Polestar to record and analyse maintenance tasks which helps to identify and measure continual improvements.
Polestar plans to add a Handheld module to allow paperless data exchange between shop floor engineers and the FrontLine system. More articles from Shire Systems Ltd: |
