EXTERNAL CAGE OPTIONS
May 1st 2005

The Eclipse guided wave radar from Magnetrol International is now available with optional external by-pass cage that is optimised for use with GWR technology.

Despite the opportunity to re-use existing cages from torque tube transmitters, many customers prefer to revamp the cages.

However, Magnetrol says that existing displacer cages are not ideal and have no extra space at the top or the bottom of the measuring range to compensate for the symptoms typical for radar technology. These vary from dead zones for free space radar to zones with less accuracy (transition zones) for guided wave radar.

Eclipse chambers have been designed with extra space to prevent the measurement being influenced by transition zones .

To allow chambers to overfill, the company has designed most probes so that the upper transition zone has been mechanically eliminated and it says that 100% overfill is safe.
