Gas sampling
July 1st 2004

Cool, dry, clean gas samples are critical to accurately monitor stack emissions, yet stack gases are typically wet, hot and dirty. To prepare such gases for analysis, Perma Pure has launched the 1640 Mini-GASS (Gas Analysis Sampling System).

This probe-mounted conditioning system is said to allow power plants, refineries, incinerators and other industrial firms to more accurately monitor smoke stack emissions.

It extracts sample gas from a smoke stack via an integrated sample probe and passes the gas through a series of filters, scrubbers and dryers to produce an analysis-ready sample. The components, including Nafion dryers, remove water, acid mist and ash, without altering the concentrations of the gases to be analysed.

Mounting the unit directly on the sample probe obviates the need for heated lines to transport the sample from stack to analyser, reducing cost and associated maintenance.
